We are only five weeks away from the Turkey Trots, which, as I say is "The Super Bowl of American Running." In years past, I got tons of flak for suggesting an alternate Trot for WNYers who might not want to:
-Trek to downtown Buffalo on Thanksgiving -Deal with the crowds and 10,000 runners -Run 4.97 miles
No one questions the Trot--it is The King of all Turkey Trots and will, rightfully so, garner the attention it deserves. But, despite many saying it would be criminal to have alternate Trots, there are others to choose from.
I wonder if this year's Buffalo Trot will sell out? I say that because road racing numbers are trending downward for a variety of reasons. I don't think these three Trots are taking away runners from Buffalo. I think these Trots are drawing new runners; a different crowd than those who traditionally race and run the Buffalo Trot.
