The Western New York High School running community has lost a great contributor in the retirement of Mr. Bill Wende in his role as Section VI Runs webmaster extraodinaire.
Mr. Wende has put his heart and sole into this site for years. He could be seen at just about every race at every venue, rain or shine, taking pictures and cheering the athletes on.
I for one always enjoyed visiting the site for results and pictures.
He put a countless amount of time and effort in to supporting everyone. The time commitment was extraordinary. The time away from his family was indeed a huge sacrifice.
I will miss his witticism, creativity, and support of WNY athletes.
You will be sorely missed, Bill. There will never be anyone like you.
Thank you for all the support you gave to me and my runners during my tenure at NT as cross country coach.

Thanks Jeanne, I am blown away by your comments. The ten years flew by and I will certainly miss many, many people who made Section6Runs the premier site for high school XC and track & field in WNY.

Please be aware that the Section6Runs web site will be taken down as of August 31, 2016. Please bookmark the photo galleries as those will remain as I use the Zenfolio account for other galleries.

Any 2016-2017 XC or track & field schedules and results should now be directed to Dave Reinhardt of Trackqua.com. Dave's email is david**trackqua.com.

Thank you Bill. It was a great site to check out, especially for old alums who live out of town as it was a great way to keep in touch with news and events.

Will Dave operate his own website?

I write for a couple of websites and compiling the notes, the research and the results is not easy, especially when one has a regular full-time job.

The site will be missed. Thank you very much for your efforts!

John

Nothing beats Section6runs for the complete package of HS running information, that's for sure. But if you just want results and statistics, Bill Meylan does a fine job at TullyRunners. No pictures, though.

Geez, John. You didn't catch my pun?
'Heart and 'sole''???
I thought I would get a comment on that one. Pretty 'punny'

Hello all...

Having had the pleasure of knowing Bill for quite some time now, I can attest to the fact that thanks to his dedication and passion for Section VI Cross Country and Track and Field we were all extremely fortunate to have a site such as Section6Runs.com promoting our student athletes and programs. He once shared with me some web site statistics including the number of "hits" Section6Runs generated from year to year. It was amazing to see the growth the recognition of our athletics was producing through the number of people that were "tuning in" to Bill's web site for information about Section VI Cross Country and Track and Field. The amount of effort, energy, and time Bill devoted to our programs has been lauded many times over but I believe the significance of what he accomplished through his web site may never truly be fully appreciated. There will be a void left and it will be challenging to fill. Someone may try to fill that void but Bill will always remain as the gold standard of Section VI Cross Country and Track and Field reporting. Thank you, Bill, for the countless lives you've managed to positively influence and change for the better through your commitment to our programs this past decade.
