Remember, several years ago when I suggested that Buffalo (area) could handle another Turkey Trot---I received death threats---

Y'all said, "How dare you try to hurt the YMCA Turkey Trot, the WNY institution, the longest consecutively run road in the United States."

You called me names!

Well--look at the numbers, folks. The EA Trot had 710 finishers. Oakfield--not easy to get to on Thanksgiving Day--had 161, and Wyoming, also not an easy trip, had 410 complete their 5K.

And, the Buffalo race, with 11,839 finishers has not been hurt at all.

I suggested it could be done.
I knew it could be done
It HAS been done.

My love for y'all has never wavered no matter what. It just proves that Buffalo is a GREAT RUNNING COMMUNITY.

MERRY CHRISTMAS

And---nobody stayed away from the BIG RACE in downtown Buffalo. All the additional Turkey Trots did was INCREASE participation. It provided opportunity for some who couldn't make it downtown, or didn't want to be part of the huge scene, or didn't run the "5 mile" distance.

Win-Win for everybody.

Two different topics. No connection at all. Slow races are one thing; having an additional Turkey Trot is another.

You always complain about the small, slow races. Some people stay away from the big, fast race in Buffalo to do a smaller race in East Aurora and you become a big fan. Do you see a contradiction in your points of view?
