In Friday's Section VI Cross County championships, East Aurora sisters Molly and Megan McLaughlin ran together the entire race and decided to finish together. Technically, senior Molly was the winner, but I really don't like to see this. I can see running together, but the last half-mile has to be go time, sister or no sister. The same thing happened at the ECIC championships last week.

I would expect all bets will be off as the McLaughlins and the EA girls will be gunning for state titles.

What say you?

If you don't care for sisters running together at high school events, then you must really not care for the Orie sisters (Nardin '17) running together at college events, where they are on different teams: Danielle is at Penn and Gabrielle is at Cornell, and yet, the finished together at Heps.

While I might agree with you in principle, I do think that both sets of sisters push each other to do their best and run faster. The Ories are running around 5:40 mile after all and the McLaughlins were way ahead of the third runner at Sectionals.

To my mind, a better question is - where was the rest of the team?

It's not as if they were jogging. It sure looked like they were running pretty hard didn't it? Why risk injury or screwing up the team/family dynamic when the goal is States and beyond? The high school season is long and the best teams continue to get better by not having to necessarily give a max effort every time out.
