| It feels like theres a bruise on my heel and every time i try and get on my toes it hurts even worse. The pain is on the right foot and goes from the heel to the outside of my foot and almost to the toes. Anyone have an idea on how to get ride of the pain or what it could be? Thanks. |

| no problem seth. i've dealt with pf before so i'd suggest stretching the bottom of your foot using a golf ball or tennis ball and also sleeping with a straussburg sock on at night. u can get the straussburg sock at most running stores or foot care stores. arch supports also probably wouldn't be a bad idea. |

Sounds like i might have the same thing except the pain is in my heel only when pressure is applied just like a bruise. I hope that its not this plantar fasciitis

The best thing to do with PF is to immediatly start a regular stretching regimen. I wish I had when mine started a year ago. Its better now but not yet gone.
In bare or stocking feet lean against a wall; place one foot in front of the other, bend the forward leg at the knee and keep the rear leg straight; now move your hip toward the wall. You should feel the stretch up the back of your lower leg, along the calf. This stretches the tendons and attached facciitus. Do this and other stretches at least twice a day. Also, roll your foot over a golf ball a few times a day. You might need to temporarily decrease your mileage, too.
If that doesn't work after a few weeks, you might want to see a sports doctor, someone who understands that quitting isn't an option. Good luck |

I have achillies tendonitis not plantar fascitis. It sounds better but still sounds like it takes a long time to recover. Any ideas??

Krolick, I also have that. But I stopped running right when I felt pain and I think it's clearing up. Just ice and stretch a lot and take a little time off.

jake i had that last year towards the end of outdoor, i tried to run through it which made it worse and i ended up having to take a month off and do physical therapy for a few weeks, so you should be good if you take a few weeks off and ice and stretch.

dpack61 is right, start the stretching right away. I fought PF all summer and stretching twice a day, rolling a golf ball around the bottom of the foot and rolling a frozen water bottle under the foot really helped. It took a while to go away completely but it never got any worse. I managed to finish a couple of marathons and three ultras during this time.
